A Threshold Into the Inner Practice of Breath
For many experienced students of yoga, there comes a moment when the breath is no longer simply a tool for calming or activation.
It begins to reveal itself as something more — unfolding into greater inner coherence, attunement, and meditative depth. What once felt like technique becomes listening. What once required effort begins to soften into attunement.
This training is eligible for 50 Continuing Education hours through Yoga Alliance and the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT).
Through guided practice, study, and mentoring, you cultivate the inner sensitivity required to work with the subtle breath while learning the principles needed to facilitate small groups with clarity and presence.
From this ground, facilitation begins to take shape — not as something imposed through technique, but as something cultivated through listening.
Breath, nervous system, and prana begin to reveal themselves as interwoven expressions of the breath’s innate intelligence.
“When the breath wanders, the mind is unsteady. When the breath is still, so is the mind.”
— Hatha Yoga Pradipika                              Â
Who This Training Is For
This training welcomes yoga teachers, yoga therapists, and contemplative practitioners who feel drawn toward a quieter and more receptive relationship with the breath.
Some participants join to deepen their personal practice and meditation. Others feel called to begin sharing restorative breath practices with students through small groups, workshops, or foundational individual sessions, integrating these approaches naturally into their existing teaching or therapeutic work.
No prior training in breathwork is required. What matters most is a genuine interest in exploring the subtle intelligence of the natural breath.

From Inner Practice to Skillful Guidance
This training is both a personal immersion and a threshold into the art of facilitation.
The program unfolds in two complementary movements. The first phase deepens your relationship with the breath—restoring its natural rhythm while refining sensitivity to the subtle interplay of breath, nervous system, and prana. From this embodied foundation, the later modules introduce the principles of facilitation, guiding you step by step in learning how to share these practices with clarity and presence.
Rather than directing the breath, practitioners learn to support its unfolding through attentive presence, pacing, and discernment.
Rooted in contemplative breath traditions and informed by the relationship between prana and the nervous system, this training offers yoga teachers and mind–body practitioners a receptive path into facilitation that honors the intelligence already living within the breath.
The Foundations Training cultivates both a personal practice and the skills needed to guide small groups within the Restorative Breathwork® approach. Participants also receive introductory exposure to one-on-one facilitation through demonstrations and partner practice, with deeper training in individual sessions unfolding in the Advanced Facilitator Training.

Training Structure & Rhythm
The training is led by Kathleen Barratt, founder and director of Barratt Breath Institute.
This hybrid training weaves together self-paced online study, three live immersion weekends on Zoom, and ongoing integration sessions that support the unfolding of practice over time.
Across eight progressive modules on the online platform, you’ll engage with guided practices, teaching videos, and audio sessions, along with resources that deepen both contemplative awareness and professional skill.
Students can expect to dedicate approximately three to four hours per week to coursework, in addition to the live sessions.
The rhythm of the training is intentional. Foundational study prepares the ground for direct experience, while each live immersion weekend offers an opportunity to enter more fully into the breath through guided practice, demonstration, and shared exploration. Between immersions, integration sessions provide space for reflection, refinement, and continued support as the work settles and matures within your own practice.
Training Access
The online platform opens 2 weeks prior to the first live immersion weekend.

A Foundational Initiation Into the Art of the Subtle Breath
This training is both a beginning and a doorway.
For some, it becomes a deeply personal journey into stillness and self-understanding. For others, it marks the first step into guiding others through the quiet intelligence of the breath.
Wherever you stand, the invitation is simple: to enter the work, to listen deeply, and to allow the breath to reveal its wisdom in its own time.
